Risk Management
South Delta Minor Hockey Association (SDMHA) is committed to keeping ALL participants of hockey SAFE.
This includes but is not limited to players, spectators, coaches, team and game officials.
SAFETY includes both physical and mental/ emotional safety.
To maintain a safe environment, we need YOUR HELP. If you witness a situation that is unsafe either physically or emotionally, please SPEAK UP AND OUT and follow our SDMHA Discipline/ Conflict Resolution Policy and Process to report it.

The HCSP ("safety person") is an ESSENTIAL role (link to our roles and responsibilities page).
No team may practice or play without a designated and qualified safety person present.
The safety person is the team's leader in risk management. They should utilize a proactive, preventative approach to safety while being prepared to react in the event of accidents, injuries or medical emergencies. They are not alone; they have the help and support of their fellow team officials, the SDMHA Risk Manager and the SDMHA Executive team.
A HCSP/ safety person requires the following up to date qualifications;
Criminal Record Check (CRC)
Complete your CRC online here: https://justice.gov.bc.ca/criminalrecordcheck and use access code: CGW39BXTU8Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders (RIS)
Complete the online RIS-Activity Leaders Course. This course must be renewed every 5 seasons. You MUST ensure that you use the pre-registration code: SDMHA-N2X3U9Q and ensure that SDMHA is selected from the organizations list.
Once courses are completed please contact sdmha@telus.net for reimbursement of course costs.
If you have previously been a HCSP/ safety person please log into your e hockey account here to check your courses and expiry dates to ensure your eligibility for this season.
